5 Happy Things......
I now have very happy feet. Which.... makes me think of this video:
2.) Old movies, images and music from the 1920's through the 1940's make me happy.
3. Discovering, by accident, the "color swap" setting on my digital camera as the perfect setting for capturing my black dog's cuteness(black dogs are notorious for being difficult to photograph which is why you'll rarely see one used in advertising). I have tried with flash(too harsh and makes her black fur shine and her eyes gleam like a possessed zombie) and without(too dark) and felt I never could quite get a true representation of Jewel before discovering that toned down color swap setting.
4. A beautiful day off in early November, spent partly on the town beach with my dog. I got her to stop for a moment from her seagull chasing and seaweed sniffing, for this photo.
and finally,5. Getting a little excited for an upcoming day trip(early December) to Manhattan!
And, the Chrysler Building is a wondrous thing, isn't it?? I hope they never actually change the name of it, since by now there isn't even any company called Chrysler and the building is owned by Germans...or is it a firm from Abu Dhabi?

I've never heard of the color swap setting. I love the photo of Jewel with her goofy cat pillow. I am a sock person too. Great presents for the Birthday Girl's tootsies. New York in December will be wonderful. ♥Rosemary

Yay for Claudia. Those are marvelous, especially the multi-colored ones. The picture of Jewel on the beach kinda made me tear up. I love dogs and that picture made me think of my late dog Woody. (Lived to be 18 in human years!) I have never been to New York. Your first time?

I once had a very special cat named Woody. He was getting on, but not quite 18 when he disappeared--we think coyotes got him--awful! That is amazing that your dog lived to be 18, too.
NYC is close enough to do a day trip by train or bus from where I live, and I have been lucky enough on three other occasions to have stayed overnight there in the past. The sights and the energy there is like no other(one of my daughter's favorite places, too, ever since she first went when she was eight)

Also, I was glad to read what you posted about black dogs being difficult to photograph. I have a sweet and beautiful black lab ... who looks horrible in every single picture she is in. I don't understand how a dog so gorgeous in reality can look like a monster on film. I feel better now : )

I can never have enough of Jewel. She is a cutie! and she likes the beach! I don't think I could have Mateo and Lucas "on the loose" anywhere, let alone the beach. They's still young, and...wild, shall I say? :-)

I love your colorful socks and the video you posted made me smile too. I love images from that time period as well. Everyone always seems happy and upbeat and full of life and fun.
Your dog is cute. I had a black lab I found once as a stray. She had been abused and was terrified of men. I named her Ebony and she was a great dog. We were at my grandma's house and somehow she got out of the backyard and got ran over. It was so sad.

Yes, it would have been terrible if the package got lost and I know how it is wondering if a letter/package will get "there". I was thrilled to get it.
The beach at this time of year is mostly empty--there is no danger and Jewel always eventually runs back to me.

Actually, I can go dancing AND "sliding" on my wood floors in these socks(husband cleaned and buffed them recently and the floors are slippery)

I just LOVE the striped stockings on your blog(if the image is still there), as you know! If I were younger, I would wear them, but for the most part I hide my "stripes" under long jeans.
now i'll have to see if my camera has that color thing too because i never really get a good shot of our black lab.

Black dogs are no different from black horses. A black horse became a film star once. That was Black Beauty, remember? It's just that advertisers and movie directors haven't discovered Jewel yet! She is the most beautiful black dog I've ever seen and you are lucky to have her!
