What was I doing 10 years ago
living in an old (damp) house in Wakefield with ivy coming through the walls, with a three year old, listening to Raffi songs, learning to garden for the first time. I became obsessive during any free moments-- preschool hours and naptimes was gardening time.
5 things on my to do list for today
get out to the grocery store
tidy up the house (since it will be raining all day, I don't mind that so much)
try to get a walk in with the dog during one of the lulls in the rainfall
*maybe* clean up the top of the dresser in the bedroom
Snacks I enjoy
guacamole with tortilla chips
chocolate with nuts
roasted almonds
Things I would do if I was a billionaire
I think of this sometimes when I have a lottery ticket in hand (it isn't too often we buy one)--What if?
What would I do with all that money?
First of all--I would quit my job! Ha..ha. Goes without saying.
Then, I would make sure my close family members and close friends were given all the money they need to erase all their debts and live comfortably.
Then, I would buy a place on a lake in the North Woods (Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont somewhere)--big enough to host lots of guests, small enough to still seem like a "cabin".
Then, I would travel to all the places I have wanted to and visit my penpals and online friends, the world over (if they'd have me, of course!)
And then, I would take my money and invest it into something like a fund or scholarship--so worthy students who couldn't afford to otherwise, could pursue an education at whatever college they like.
Those are some of the ideas...

You would be welcome here in Calgary. There are lots of things to do, especially visiting the mountains.

A big think-you, as well, for extending a Canadian welcome to your part of the world. It would seem so fascinatingly different there, I am pretty sure!!
I've only gambled once in my life. That was 26 years ago at the Casino , in Divonne, France. I gambled 100 Swiss francs on number 11...15 minutes before closing time. That was just for fun. As I was about to leave the place, I heard someone saying ..."Mademoiselle, vous avez gagné" (Miss, you have won !). The roulette had stopped at number 11 !!! That meant 36 times 100.. equals, 3,600 Swiss francs...equals about $2,500 those days ! Alkis and I spent it all on a shopping trip in Paris the following weekend. You know....avenue Montaigne and Faubourg Saint Honoré!!! But if I were a billionaire I'd buy a yacht to sail off to the Greek isles every summer and also a chalet in Saint Moritz or Gstaad or Zermatt , Switzerland. I'd also buy 350 pairs of Louis Vuitton shoes, 5 Louis Vuitton suitcases, 10 Louis Vuitton bags, 5 Gucci bags and thousands of books ! As a French writer once said ..."The really poor are those who have never dreamt!" Great blog, Tina !

Ouch...the rizt crackers with peanut butter and milk...still need to try that one. Although living in a peanut butter loving country I kind of forgot it during the years. I always have a Surinam version of peanut butter (spicy) here though.
The penpal travel idea would be mine as well...wouldn't it be wonderful to meet some day!!
Interesting... I may have to borrow this one too at some point! I think we have pretty much the same plans IF we become millionaires!!! :) .... and you can't beat crackers with peanut butter as a snack... always good! LOVE chocolate with nuts too!!
