Friday Fill-in and a Beer Story

Another good one from Janet at Friday Fillins:

3. During _____the work day, I _____drink cups and cups of Celestial Seasons white tea.(the place never truly gets warm in winter, so a mug of tea is a great hand warmer. I just started doing this a week ago--it helps with me from getting too dehydrated, too.)
4. This week, I got a bill in the mail from the cable/internet company we parted ways with a month and a half ago(and *thought* we had settled up completely with) for...ten cents _____; are you kidding me???!!!
5. Right now I'd like to be _____ a better, more focused and ambitious version of myself.
6. My wine bottle opener_____ is my favorite gadget.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to _____dinner with my sister and daughter and husband at Crazy Burger, tomorrow my plans include _____working on a sketch/ drawing idea that came to me at work two days ago, and Sunday, I want to _____ take a long walk down to the bay with the dog.

Here's a sweet little coink-i-dink that happened yesterday evening.

I had just dropped off R at the school for 6:15 (she was helping out at the spelling bee for two hours) and knowing that a liquor store( the "packie" ) was just around the corner from the school and thinking I wanted to bring something to the BYOB restaurant we are going to tonight...I stopped in to pick up something wet. I decided on a bottle of Kendall-Jackson 2006 Pinot Noir and then I thought I would surprise J with some beer since we hadn't had it in the house for a while. He likes dark beers (Murphy's Irish Stout being his favorite) and me not so much. But, I do like Sam Adam's Cream Stout (it tastes like toasted chocolate to me!) so I bought a six-pack of that, too. I had to pay with my check card, and made a little small talk with the owner at the counter, and then drove home.

Ten minutes later, J gets home(with a brown bag in hand) and I tell him there's a bottle of Sam Adam's warming up on the kitchen counter for him. He didn't seem all that excited, but I figured, "well, it is only beer". But usually, J is a responsive, effusive kind of guy. Especially about beer!

Then, J tells me that he was in the same liquor store a few minutes after I left there. He had the same idea to buy beer and wine. So he already knew about my little surprise.....

...and scary that we are so on the same track!

He had gone in there to buy some kind of Chilean wine he always gets and also ...Murphy's Irish Stout. When he was at the counter to pay, his observant eye(I would never have noticed if it were me) spotted the white slip of paper I had just signed for the credit card transaction --it was at the top of the pile, apparently. He actually noticed my big "T" and the rest of my scribbled signature. So he asked the owner if I had been in and he told him yes, "I thought that was your wife" and told him what kind of beer I had purchased. So, J put the Murphy's back (but bought the wine).

Not anything momentous, but we had a chuckle over it as we drank our Cream Stout together.
