i watch
The fat, wet snowflakes falling and coating the ground in white (yes, it was 60*F here just 24 hours ago and my daughter was walking around practically barefoot)

i need
to fold and sort laundry...soon.

i want
oh..lots of things! But I am going to restrain myself since I gave up any "extra curricular" shopping (meaning anything besides the necessities like food and toothpaste) for Lent.

i listen
Message of Love by the Pretenders on the radio ("oh it's good, good, good...like Brigitte Bardot!")

i feel
lighthearted in spite of the gloomy weather and bad atmosphere at work today

i play

"Find The Treat" with the dog. Today it was a fragrant chunk of Monterrey Jack cheese she had to sniff out--it was hidden on a window sill and it took her about two minutes to find it. One of these days I am going to have to tape her while she plays this game--she is so hilarious. We make her stay in a room behind a closed door while the hiding spot is chosen, and when she hears the "okay!" she comes bolting out of there down the hall and frantically sniffs every spot she can think of in the living area.

i read
re-reading Haven Kimmel's wonderful memoir of her growing up years in Mooreland, Indiana(population 300) in the 60's and 70's, "A Girl Named Zippy".

i eat
pita bread and hummus (ack! I wish the husband had bought plain hummus and not this olive flavored one, though)

Wait! There's more--a Manic Monday trio of questions, courtesy of Fleur De Lisa.

What would you do with an extra hour each day?

I would like to say I would be productive and creative and create art with that extra 60 minutes, but more truthfully--I would just like to sleep that one extra hour.

Do you wear a watch?

No, I don't. I have one but just don't care to wear it and have to remember to wear it. I have always gotten by without one and have developed a pretty good sense of what time it is without one. And with a clock in my car , on the computer, cell phone and surrounded by plenty of watch-wearing humans, I can usually know what time it is, anyway.

If it was possible, would you want to know how many days you had left to live?

That would be too much doom to deal with. I would rather not know. I know my life could end any moment, but would rather think I had some time. Besides, having a clock ticking down on my life's remaining hours would add stress and make life less enjoyable. Which makes me think of those "last request" dinners prisoners eat before an execution. I am sorry--if I knew I was going to be killed, I don't know that I could relish eating anything!

Find a Treat game sounds really fun. Video it and post!

I think there's a lot to say about not knowing what time it is...

We used to play "Find The Treat" game with Bailey. We also used to take 3 colored cups, show him which cup the treat was under, then move the cups all around, then ask him which cup the treat was under. He would put his paw ontop of the cup he would choose. Almost all of the time he would get it right. I need to start playing those kinds of gmaes with them more often.

Aw, back to winter again, huh.:(
I am so with you on that extra hour of sleep; I guess you lost one on Sunday night right?
Here we will go back to daylight savings time first in the end of the month.
I don't wear a watch either; I am surrounded by so many clocks and they are all set ahead just so I can make it everywhere on time.;))
Hope your Monday was good.;)

Snowflakes here too. Pretty, at least they didn't stick. You know what they say about New England weather - changes every 15 minutes! Lately that really seems true.

Snow again! How March can change from day to day!

Wow your dog is really trained...I like the find the treat game.

Oh...I'd really love more time in the day as well! Especially free time lol. Time always seems to slip through my fingers and at the end of the day I still have so many other things left I wanted to do ;-)

I don't have a watch either...actually for the same reasons as you :-)

Thanks, everyone for all the comments!
One day I'll figure out how to take video and add it here, of Jewel going crazy searching out the treat.
~RoseAnn,
I love the idea of teaching a dog a version of the Shell Game--Bailey must be one smart dog(but, they usually are when it comes to food, aren't they?)
~~ And Joanne,
you said it exactly right, and so did Mark Twain,
"If you don't like the weather in New England, just wait a few minutes."
It's true--it is never boring around here, weather-wise, is it? (it's brisk and sunny today)
Nice learning through the Manic Monday question, that there are more non-wristwatch wearers out there, too.
