This story caught my fancy when I read it today on Yahoo news--about a shoe stealin' fox in Germany who made off with over 100 shoes, apparently for her fox cubs to play with. Clever as ... a fox!
Fox steals more than 100 shoes

BERLIN (Reuters) – A fox has been unmasked as the mystery thief of more than 100 shoes in the small western German town of Foehren, authorities said Friday.
A forest worker stumbled upon shoes strewn near the fox's den and found a trove of footwear down the hole which had recently been stolen overnight from outside locals' front doors.
"There was everything from ladies' shoes to trainers," said a local police spokesman. "We've found between 110 and 120 so far. It seems a vixen stole them for her cubs to play with."
Although many were missing laces, the shoes were in good condition and their owners were delighted to reclaim them, he said, adding that no reprisals were planned against the culprit.

Wow. Goofy.
And everyone is listening to Cage the Elephant these days...
Are you, too????!! :-)
what a great story. I have never heard of Cage the Elephant. You have me all curious now.. Hey did you see the Conan show with Norm McDonald? Hubby and I were rolling on the floor with laughter
Wow...I have a picture of the fox carrying the shoes in my mind now. I like stories like this. The shoes must have looked attractive to her without knowing what it was haha. A real woman though :-)
HA ha..how cute. Naughty fox. :)
I haven't downloaded the whole cd, but it is on my list for summer iPod selections.
wow! cute story and so strange. I find it strange that the shoes were still in good shape. why weren't they chewed up?
I read that in the news too! :) A typical woman, eh?
Hmmm...sly as a fox, right? The truth is I was terrified when I read the article as I own more than 200 pairs of shoes - ankle boots, strappy sandals and trainers included! Although in my part of the world, foxes live in the mountains, I'd rather watch out. They may decide to visit the coast for a change! Never trust a fox!
This is the kind of story that starts my day off on the right foot (no pun intended). Loved it...thanks.
