It is yet another perfect September day,
daytime temp no higher than 70*F,
sunny,
blue skies with not a cloud in evidence,
a cool breeze rippling the leaves(that are still hanging on)on the trees,
the roads empty of the summertime hordes,
wearing my fuzzy slippers and inspired to make lentil soup,
.....and yet there is one thing I just do not like about fall(besides having to see those enormous Halloween blow-up lawn decorations):
Its the sound of.....those damned leaf blowers going!
I'll hear them every day now, I am sure, for a few more months.
Talk about noise pollution!

Leaf blowers :). Here they won't use them. They still use - hand made - brooms to clean the streets. I can imagine your frustration though, don't like the sound either. Other than that I hope you will be able to enjoy some other perfect September days though...
the only thing worse than hearing them is right now outside my office window (home office) they are blowing leaves and it will be 91 degrees today. So I would still trade you!
You know how old people retire to the south for warmth. I am going to retire to the north for cooler/cold. :-) it's where my heart is!
Interesting how some things have come to be annoying to some, while for others is not known. I have never seen a leaf blower in my life!! Does Jewel get annoyed by them? I am sure Lucas and Mateo would!

i am ready for fall (even w/ leaf blowers) if it would only bring cooler temps. we've been in the 90s here in nc this week. too hot for this late in september.
I'll take the leaf blowers in exchange for the gorgeous display of colors and some cooler temps. Plus some soup and fuzzy slippers sounds like heaven.
We don't have any leaf blowers in our neighbourhood, thank goodness. In fact, I don't know too many people who own or use a leaf blower. It's the SNOW blowers that come out in full force and make a huge racket come winter. Hopefully, we still have a month or so of peace before those machines emerge. ;)
Autumn, however, does mean the highway, grocery store parking lots, and Tim Horton's are full of campers, boats, ATVs and trailers covered with tarps hiding mysterious contents. Ah yes, hunters. Autumn means the sound of shotguns in the air.
We have the leaf blowers when the landscaping guys come to do our lawn (it is luxury to have someone do it, I know.)
About 5 college aged guys descend upon the lawn and it takes about 10 minutes, tops. But those blowers are loooouuuud.

I agree with you on the noise, but at least your neighbors care about their yards, I guess is one way to look at it. I need to get one that works!!

Autumn holds a special place in my heart! Mostly for food related reasons :-)
Cider, pie, pumpkins, spices, apples, lamb, lentils.

Leaf blowers are the invention of the devil. Or at least someone Very Bad. The same one who invented those ridiculous inflatable holiday decorations.
I made lentil soup also, just 2 days ago! It turned out well, despite the fact that I used lentils that are probably a year old.
LOL, I'm with you on that.... noisy leafblowers... and the worst of all, the sound of trees being cut down and wood chippers!!! Oooh I hate that sound.

Now leaf-blowers are a thing of the past(kind of miss them, actually!) and we are deep into winter.
Fall was extrememly busy with me keeping it together for family and work(more hours, responsibilities there), a home computer virus , and also a growing sense that I needed to disconnect from all things Internet for a while. Still missed all my favorite humans the Internet has allowed me to "meet", and have returned to blogging/reading blogs( a few days off in a row after Christmas made this easier to do).
